Dennis Henry

Actor, Director, Instructor

Dennis is currently an Instructor of Theatre at  Indiana University Kokomo and the Artistic Director Hoosier Shakespeare Festival. In addition to more than two decades in the professional theatre world, mostly as an actor and director, Dennis has taught classes in acting, directing, Shakespeare, voice for the actor, and many others at Grand Valley State University, Concordia University Chicago, and University of Nebraska. Additionally he has taught workshops on those topics at dozens of colleges and universities from coast to coast.

He earned an MFA in Directing for Stage and Screen from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is a member of Actors' Equity Association, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and the Society of American Fight Directors. He has performed in more than 40 U.S. states on national tours with American Shakespeare Center (VA) and the National Theater for Arts and Education (CT). Additional credits include Cleveland Play House, Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company (MI), Virginia Shakespeare Festival, and Sweet Tea Shakespeare (NC). 

In addition to extensive acting and directing work, Dennis has worked as a stage manager, company manger, teaching artist, front of house manager, producer, carpenter, props master and many other theatre jobs large and small. His non-theatre work has ranged from substitute economics teacher, to Planet Hollywood bathroom attendant, to fish gutting in Alaska.
